Somerset Counselling Centre

Taunton

Somerset Counselling Alliance work with young people aged 16+ years of age. A BACP accredited counselling centre for 18 years.  We have over 30 years of experience supporting young people (and adults) with high quality brief focused 1:2:1 counselling or open-ended longer term 1:2:1 therapy.  We offer affordable sessions to those in need.  We measure outcomes using CORE, which has a benchmark to a national clinical or “healthy” population.  We are clear about what counselling is and how it can help.  With over thirty counsellors in our group at any time, we enable a match of counsellor and young people to build a solid relationship for positive engagement and progress.  We are an innovative organisation looking at new ways to engage and support people either individually, in groups, through education. Always supportive and person centred.  Firmly a front and centre active supporter of this the SCYA alliance.

The Space

The Space

Cheddar Valley

The Space is a responsive and innovative local charity covering the Cheddar Valley area working with young people 4-18 years living with low mental health and emotional resilience and often in crisis, e.g., depression, anxiety, attempted suicide, etc. potentially caused by several issues, including abuse, neglect, and trauma.

We are passionate about what we do, and we offer a free independent and confidential counselling service which we provide at various venues in our community. Currently we support young people aged 9-18 years with this service.
Counselling gives young people a safe and confidential space to talk about any worries or problems they are experiencing. This can range from stress of exams, bereavement feeling anxious about situations. Talking things through in a safe often leads to changes in how young people feel about themselves, their relationships, the way they think and behave.

Our counsellors are qualified and trained to listen and understand young people; to see things from their viewpoint. As well as listening, counsellors also help young people to clarify their problems or challenges, see patterns in their thinking and/or behavior and support them to make positive changes to help young people to make their own choices to help equip themselves with tools to cope and build resilience.
